Pulse

Pulse.

Pulse aims to be an online music database used by avid music enthusiasts and casual listeners alike.

The application will ideally incorporate elements from a number of popular music applications/website which are currently in operation.

For instance, Pulse aims to provide its users with updates on their favourites artists with news regarding upcoming releases and newly announced live gigs. This feature has most in-common with publications like Pitchfork, NME and Uncut who sustain themselves on providing their readers with topical information in the form of promo’s, reviews and concert listings. All three try to remain relevant by tailoring their content to an audience by limiting the breadth of their content to a select number of genres.

Pulse intends to reduce the barriers and cater to a much larger audience by providing content from a range of sources and allowing users to have their voices heard in an online community which allows for user reviews, much like iMDB functions.

Similarly to iMDB, Pulse will incorporate content from established critics via online sources such as Pitchfork using links.

Overall Pulse should :

  • Act as a hub for music enthusiasts to keep track of the latest releases.
  • Comments and User review sections which allow for users to discuss the reception of a single/album/artist.
  • Users are notified about live tour dates.
  • Profiles, social elements, the ability to create lists regarding music and personalising the user experience all encourage user base growth.
